Social Enterprise Crosby

North Lincolnshire Council invited CERT to work in partnership with them in order to share their experience of developing social enterprises in North East Lincolnshire into the disadvantaged area of Crosby in North Lincolnshire.

Social Enterprise Crosby was established to provide enterprising solutions for local communities through a one-stop shop resource centre. The project established a managed workspace within the Crosby area and developed a series of social enterprises that operated from the centre.

The project supported micro and small business start ups and social enterprises. The project's aim was to prepare the ground for enterprise activity in an area where no social enterprise activity previously existed.

Social Enterprise Crosby worked with a wide range of local organisations and engaged with the local BME community in order to stimulate social enterprise ideas.

The project provided training, information and advice to organisations in the area about the Social Economy. It also enabled local social entrepreneurs to research and develop their ideas within a supported environment and helped to create employment opportunities and businesses within the local community.

The project provided support for the following activities:

  • Job Creation
  • Social Enterprise Support
  • Business Planning and Sustainability
  • Pilot Projects
  • Enterprise Training
  • Business Start-up guidance and support
  • Social Enterprise Start-up Fund

This £1.1m project was funded by North Lincolnshire's Resurgo SRB 6 partnership, North Lincolnshire Council and the European Regional Development Fund and served to develop the foundations for social enterprise in North Lincolnshire.
